Just before we met my family in Glacier, we stumbled (well Bade researched and found) upon free camping near Glacier National Park right along the banks of the river. Of course, after our families returned home we went back to this peaceful camp spot and stayed for a week.
We drove to the very end so we could camp by the river, by ourselves, and have some shade from trees.
It rained one night which left us with cozy fog in the morning, and created a trail of mud down the once-blue river.
We also carried on my dad’s tradition of Sunday night cookies. Although I think we went a little overboard on the amount.
And our cat Moki loved this camp area since she was able to come and go at her leisure.
To find this camp spot you’ll go either 9 miles from Columbia Falls or 5 miles (some dirt road) from the Lake Five turn off on your way to the West side of Glacier. Google “Blankenship Bridge” to find this spot.
